New domain, new theme! I’ve taken my first steps as a WordPress theme developer and you’re looking at them.
My own verdict….?
I don’t know. During the process/making I was quite happy with it, but all of a sudden I started thinking that it looks to heavy. I can’t quite put my finger on it, maybe there’s to much information crammed in there, or perhaps to many colours, or perhaps the colours are to heavy, I don’t know what it is. I’ll continue tweaking it over the next period of time….aaaand I’ll probably start making a new theme soon.
Lessons learned:
- I really like making webpages as a sanity hacking project. It’s great fun to tweak the CSS and fiddle with Photoshop, and the process is quite fast. Alter, save, upload (actually save and upload is done in one step) hit F5, voila. Sure beats restarting apps and republishing on a WebSphere App Server as I do at work way too many times every day.
- Use “multiple inheritance” when creating CSS. It saves redundant information if you just create a .floatLeft class once and then just assign it to all elements that needs to float left, instead of scattering “float: left;” all over your CSS.
