Long story short.
Entire family…vacation…went on tour…bought DVD on tour…stupid Peter promised to make copies to everyone…error on DVD…copyied files (sans corrupt one of course) to Mac…now have VIDEO_TS folder on Mac…tries to burn to DVD…fails…swears…tries again…fails again…curses…tries again…fails yet again…goes to Google…finds solution.
So! You have a VIDEO_TS folder and now you’d like that folder to be copied to a DVD that you can give to your relatives, so that they can pop that DVD into their DVD player and watch it just like that.
The answer can be found on the fine fine Mac OX X hints site.
So! In my case the VIDEO_TS folder was stored in my home folder under DVD/VIDEO_TS, so my command ended up looking like this:
Second-Variety:Desktop peter$ hdiutil makehybrid -udf -udf-volume-name SHARM_EL_SHEIKH -o SHARM_EL_SHEIKH.iso /Users/peter/DVD/
And it worked….sorta…I can play the DVD in my Mac but not on our DVD player…aiaiaiai..let’s see what the family says.
